Clearfield is located near the center of Clearfield County along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. Just a short drive to the west brings you to DuBois and a 40-mile drive to the east takes you to State College. Home to the county courthouse, this borough has a lot to offer including hunting, recreation areas, a drive-in movie theatre, dining, shopping and overnight accommodations.
Downtown Clearfield is nationally known for Grice Gun Shop, a family-owned business started in 1955. Grice Gun Shop has thousands of rifles, shotguns, handguns, AR’s, muzzleloaders, air guns, scopes, binoculars and spotters. They also stock ammunition and hunting boots for the outdoor enthusiast. Bob’s Army & Navy is also located downtown which supply’s military surplus, firearms, archery equipment and outdoor gear. There are also many shops and restaurants downtown to enjoy as you walk around and take in the sites.
The Clearfield County Fair is a major summer attraction usually scheduled for the first week in August. Fair rides, food vendors, livestock, concerts and so much more makes this event something people drive miles to enjoy.
